Programme of Meetings and Events
PROGRAMME OF EVENTS in 2024
- Events are normally organised for the second Tuesday of the month (but note they will be on Monday in May and June 2024)
- All talks will be held in the Village Hall at 7.30pm with tea/coffee provided
- An annual (1 Sep to 31 Aug) membership fee of £20 covers the cost of speakers/refreshments and is available to everyone aged 18 and over
- There may be additional charges or voluntary donations for visits
- Non-members are very welcome for a charge of £5 per talk

AGM followed by “Stainsby Mill” - a talk by Sonia Preece, local historian
November - Tuesday 12th
“The Origin of Local Place Names” - a talk by Anthony Poulton-Smith, local historian
December - Tuesday 10th
“History of Derbyshire Oil” - a talk by Cliff Lea on the story of the first successful deep-well in the UK - at Tibshelf!
